David and I go to Peace River Alberta every year, without fail, no exceptions, period! In fact my beautiful daughter, Brookelynn, was born 9-17-03 as I lay in a goose blind 3,000 miles from home! Now, that one was an accident! Brooke came 3 weeks early and, to this day, I haven't forgiven her mother for her "failing to maintain control" until I was home! (Yeah Right!) To say the least, I have an understanding wife. That being said, my point is that it is an annual ritual that we hope to never miss out on!


Why? Picture this; we leave in mid to late September from New Orleans, LA where it is 80 degrees....at 5:00AM!!! We arrive in Edmonton Canada at around 1:30PM and you'd BETTER have a jacket! What a relief from the summer heat! Then our group rents a couple of SUV's and we make a 7 hour drive to the northern extreme of Alberta, Peace River. That ride can get....interesting.

Once we are there, we meet with Alberta's finest water fowlers, Tim Rose and Tim Capps. These guys were first introduced to us through them using our boats for their guide service. They quickly told us we should give Canada a try and we did. We hit it off immediately and the two of them have become two of our very best friends in the world. Our families vacation together, and we are in CONSTANT contact. I tell you this so you will know what I know, that these are GOOD people. These are HONEST people. And, most importantly, these are God Fearing Christian Men! If they promise it, you'll get it. If they offer it, you want it.

Each year, we talk to guys at the airport on the way home who have hunted Manitoba, or Saskatchewan, and they all say the same thing, "we had a couple of good hunts, but the guides said that the birds were not here yet!". To me, that is too much of a gamble. One thing about Peace River Alberta is that it is the first agricultural crops the birds see when they leave the nesting grounds...period! They WILL NOT leave until they are snowed over in mid to late October. This place is as close as you can get to a guaranteed slaughter!

Each year we take more and more people with us. Our first year our group was 3 people. This year, he had to hire additional guides and split David and I up to hunt over 2 weeks so we could fit all the people we are bringing. Our group is as large as the two Tims can handle so it fills up fast, usually by March. But don't worry, he can put you in on other time slots besides just when we go.
