Here are the pictures from yesterday's hunt.
Regarding the time spent on blind prep, we basically pulled into a very
thick veggie island, put some cut palmetto branches around the outside of
the Hide to match the green color, added cattails to the brush pipes and set
13 hanks of green insta-grass on the deck.
It probably took 10 minutes to set it up. (We brought the cattails and the
palmetto braches with us).
One of things I like most about the Hide is the fact that you can pack all
your gear in it the night before, get up, pour coffee and drive to the ramp.
Pull up ANYWHERE, set decoys and hunt!

Photo courtesy of Dave Neetz, a proud US soldier that purchased his Gator Trax upon his return from serving his country in Iraq. This bear was taken by Dave on a 100 mile round trip they made in his Gator Trax in Alaska. Here is what Dave had to say.
Kent/David,
Don’t know if you remember me, we bought the 20’ x 54” Gatortrax with the 35HD late last summer (you loaded it into the cargo trailer with the forklift).
To tell you the truth, I was a little skeptical when I contacted you from Iraq and you told me that your boat would be perfect for Alaska (“shallow is what we do” you said). However, I’m now a believer.
I took the boat out a little last fall, but didn’t really give it a hard test, just big river stuff and ran through a couple of shallow areas to chew on some rocks. Yes, it chipped up the prop a little, but not badly. So I still wasn’t convinced.
I just got back from about a 100 mile (round trip) hunt up a small river in central Alaska. I went about 40 miles further up the river than my partner had ever been, including a Class II/III rapid that stretched for about a mile. We were jumping logs (lots of log jams in Alaska rivers), spraying silt while running through silt/sand bars, and ripping through corners that were more than a 110 degree change in direction. And once we figured out to load the boat heavier in the rear, we were averaging about 20 mph with two big men (about David’s size), full gear and a hitch-hiking bear (see attached photo)! And after jumping numerous logs and blasting through the rock filled rapids (yes, we chewed them up) the only damage I could find was an 18 inch gouge/scratch on the bottom/side of the boat.
I can’t wait for waterfowl season this fall to take the GT out and put up a camo cover! The only suggestion I would make on the boat would be to factory install some oar lock stations (we ran way up the river and floated in the evenings looking for bear).
Anyway, when Elaine and I were there, we invited you to come up to Alaska to visit. The invitation is still open. We might even have to talk about a dealership—you would not believe the number of people who have stopped me to ask about the GT!
Thanks for a great product!

WE SHOT A TOTAL OF 979 POUNDS IN 2 DAYS

Kent,
I hunt with Jason Hudson on his place in Navasota and I thought you might like a pic, and a plug.
The river has been up for 2 weeks now, and it has made it tough to get to the birds. Of course they have managed to find refuge in the most remote areas of the ranch. I decided to use his boat on this hunt. Four hours of hard nose scouting for 45 minutes of fun. Seems like that applies to a lot of things in life, but it is often worth the effort! This is the first time that I have used one of your boats, and I have to tell you that this thing is awesome. We spent four hours going through some of the nastiest flooded timber to find where these birds were sitting. We went across stumps, trees, weeds, logs and one old spare tire in water from shin deep to 15 ft. There was a learning curve to operate the boat without hitting EVERY tree, but, it was a short one. These guys had a very fast, exciting hunt. (20 birds in 45 minutes) Without the boat, we would have been forced to hunt the edges of the ranch, and probably not done as well. I can’t wait to see what this thing will do in the marsh. Keep up the good work, and Good Hunting!
