17' Gator Flats Boat with 60 HP 4 Stroke Yamaha
The Gator Flats was designed for our customers that need a "do-it-all" boat. Getting into shallow duck ponds to hunt, fly fish, or even to bow fish.
The wide bottom allows for extreme shallow water drafts even under a heavy load. The shorter sides allow for poling the flats without much resistance from the wind.
Flush decks provide hassle free fly fishing with nothing to hang your line on. The same can be said for tangle free bow fishing.
Duck hunters can easily attach a boat blind and use the catwalks for interior shelves while hunting.
The stability of this hull is unparalleled by any other hull in its' class and the boat handles in true Gator Trax fashion, no sliding.
The Flats can be ordered with custom features or you can order the standard model that has already been "thought out" by our staff to be very user friendly.
Here are some things to consider when ordering the Flats;
- Remember that in a Gator Flats the length of the boat INCLUDES the huntdeck. So, an 18x62 Flats is 18ft, tip to tip, INCLUDING the Huntdeck feature.
- Gator Flats models will be made of .125 (1/8) aluminum with motors up to 75HP. If you go with a motor that has MORE than 75HP, your hull will be made of .190 (3/16) aluminum.
- The Gator Flats comes with 16" sides. This is to combat the wind from pushing the boat around while poling. This design is made primarily for backwaters, marshes, (generally protected water). The hull will still traverse rough seas safely, however it will generate more spray in high winds than our taller sided hulls. (wet ride in rough seas). If you only occasionally cross big water, then the Flats will be fine. Remember to build your boat for what you do MOST of the time as no one boat will do it all. However, if you are in rougher water more often than not, you may want to consider our Big Water Editions, which are basically a tall sided Gator Flats.
