Instructions for Using Your
New Quickbite Coupler
TO COUPLE THE TRAILER TO THE
TOW VEHICLE
-
Chock the trailer's
wheels.
-
Position trailer to
acceptable height.
Note: The top of the
ball can either be
flush
with the top of the
coupler (figure 1)
or the top of the
ball can be 3/4"
higher than
the top of the
coupler (figure 2)
or the top of the
ball can be 3/4"
lower than the top
of the coupler
(figure 3) and the
coupler will still
grasp the ball.

Pull
back on the
locking
lever on
the side of
the
coupler,
(figures 4 &
5)
This
will release
the
locking
band so that
you
can
prepare to
couple
the
trailer. |

(figure 5) |
With the locking
lever pulled back,
lift the locking
band using the
finger tab upward
and back (figure 6).
As you ligt the
locking band the
coupler jaws will
automatically
open (figure 7)

(figure

(figure 7)
____________________________________________________________
-
The locking band
will now be in
either the full open
position (figure 8),
which is for
disconnecting or the
ready position
(figure 9), where as
the locking band is
resting
on top of the
coupler jaws and is
now ready to couple.
Note: If the locking
band is
not resting on the
jaws in the ready
position, simply
pull back on the
locking band
tab (figure 10).
This will allow you
to pull back on the
locking lever to
release the
locking band from
the full open
position. With the
locking lever back,
lower the
locking band until
it is resting on top
of the jaws (figure
11). The coupler is
now
ready to couple.

____________________________________________________________
-
Insert the alignment
rods into the holes
in the tips
of the coupler's
jaws

____________________________________________________________
-
Back the tow
vehicle's ball into
the coupler using
the alignment rod
system. At
this point the
coupler will
automatically engage
the ball as long as
the trailer is
at an acceptable
height for coupling.
Note: At this point
the locking band
should
be down and
surrounding the
closed jaws as seen
below.

_________________________________________________________
Always insert the manual
locking pin or the optional
security locking pin;
continue by
hooking up both safety
chains (Always use two
approvedsafety chains in the
proper
crossed procedure).
Connect any wiring for
lighting and or brakes,
raise the jack,
remove the alignment rods
and you are now ready to
tow.

____________________________________________________________
TO UNCOUPLE THE TRAILER FROM
TOW VEHICLE.
-
Chock the trailer's
wheels
-
Raise the trailer
until the pressure
from the trailer is
removed from the top
of
the ball.
( If you are using a
drawbar, you will
see the drawbar lift
to the top
of the receiver at
this point)
-
Remove the manual
locking pin or
optional security
locking pin. All
safety chains
and wiring should be
disconnected at this
point.
-
While holding the
locking lever back,
raise the locking
band using the
finger tab
to the full open
position (see figure
7 from above). The
jaws will not open
at this
point and the
locking band should
be held open by the
locking lever
engaging the
notch in the locking
band rear. Note: If
the locking band
will not lift, the
trailer
has rearward pull on
the trailer ball
indicating a
possible roll away
condition. Make
sure that the
trailer wheels are
properly chocked and
slighly back tow
vehicle to
relieve this
pressure. If the
band will still not
lift, the trailer is
still trying to move
rearward or the
trailer is raised to
high, check your
blocks and height
and try again.
The band will not
lift as long as
there is too much
pressure on the
ball.
-
With locking band
lifted and locked in
the full open
position (see figure
8), simply
pull the tow vehicle
forward and the
coupler will
automatically
release the trailer
from the tow
vehicle.

TO USE THE
ALIGNMENT ROD SYSTEM
-
You must first
properly set up the
alignment system for
the best possible
results.
This is best done
using two people but
can still be done by
one person.
___________________________________________________________
-
With the coupler
jaws open to the
ready position,
insert the two
alignment rods
into the
holes on the tips of
the jaws.
____________________________________________________________
-
Now align the
vehicle with the
trailer by backing
close but not into
the coupler with
both the trailer and
the tow vehicle
aligned in a
straight position.
At this point the
ball should be lined
up with the center
of the coupler.

(This is required
for proper set up
only. During use the
angle can vary as
well
as the ball can be
off center by as
much as 2" and still
couple correctly).
______________________________________________________________
-
Now place the
provided dot on the
tailgate, back glass
or other appropriate
location so that
when you sight
rearward, its
location is in the
center of the
alignment rods.
Because individual
people sight
differently, chances
are the
dot will not be dead
center of the
vehicle. Place it in
the center of the
rods while
the trailer is in
place. You can use
more than one dot if
different people tow
the trailer.

________________________________________________________________________________
-
With proper
placement, anytime
that you connect,
simply back up
keeping the
dot in between the
two alignment rods
while having the
trailer at an
acceptable
height for the
towing vehicle and
the coupler will do
the rest.
