We would like to preface this page by saying that we came to know Ben and Matt Lowe through their Dad, Scott Lowe and their Uncle, Doug Lowe. Friends, customers, and most importantly, Brothers In Christ. Scott and Doug both bought Gator Trax Hulls years ago and it was done not for themselves, but for a chance to spend time with these fine young men and their equally awesome siblings. This whole family was (is) involved in the outdoors and are heavily devoted to spending time there together. Ben and Matt, along with their brothers, spent countless hours in the field with their Dad and Uncle and this page catches but a glimpse of what they truly loved. However, it is hard to capture the essence of these fine young men with a few pictures and a few words. Their lives, though short, were testimonies as to how we all should live. They were happy, they loved life, each other, and most of all, they loved their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The world is truly a lesser place without them.
Ben and Matt were hunting with their brother, Josh, in the Dewey Wills WMA in early January of 2009. The three boys camped there, without Dad for the first time, and had a great time hunting the Catahoula Lake area. The hunt was over, and they started home, checking in with a concerned Dad who told them to drive safely and he had supper waiting on them. Unfortunately, on the way home and along Hwy 28 at the Catahoula diversion canal, which is Northeast of Alexandria, La in Lasalle parish, there was a terrible accident. Josh was in ICU for a while but, by the Grace of God, recovered completely. Matt and Ben did not make it. They were called Home to be with the Lord on that day, January 3rd, 2009. Ben was 10 years old, Matt was 22.
Even in death Ben was a giver. His organs went to save the lives of other children in need. Since the passing of his boys, Scott was bombarded with testimony after testimony of how Ben and Matt had influenced the lives of so many people. Ben's school recently held a memorial where Scott was invited to speak. While there, he was informed that the school was instituting a new award to be given out each year. "The Ben Lowe Character Award" will be awarded to the student that exhibits outstanding character and morals each year, just like Ben.
So, here's to Matt and Ben Lowe, from your Dad, your Uncle, your entire family and all your friends, we'll see you in that perfect duck blind in the sky...keep my seat warm!
Kent, David, & Allen
I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation and gratitude. As you know I have experienced a tremendous loss at the beginning of this year. Losing two children tragically would seem impossible to bear. I have pondered endlessly on this event and still can only wonder how and why. Only the Lord knows. Thank you for all your help in the past and your efforts in getting me rigged out with a boat. As you know, there were a lot of special memories made with it as is evident in all of the pictures.
My eyes fill with tears as I write this, thinking of all the hunts and outings I had planned and how suddenly that all got swept away. Having them out in such a well built boat gave me a real sense of peace. Please keep up the good work in putting out quality products.
David, thanks Brother for being there at the hospital that night keeping me and my family in your and Ladonna’s prayers. I know the Lord has his hand on us and he will continue to do so as we give him the glory in everything we do. The outdoors is such a gift, as well as the wildlife. The kids and I are blessed to have experienced it together. I somehow have to believe that Matthew and Ben are assigned to the migration dept in Heaven now and are anxiously waiting for the rest of us to join them. Thanks again,
Your Servant In Christ,
Scott Lowe
